How much would it cost to render a house per square meter m2?

There are number of reasons why house owners choose to render their properties. It provides a decorative finish that can brighten up tired houses, especially those with damaged brickwork or existing discoloured render. To get an idea of costs, multiply the number of  square meters of the property type you are looking to render by the cost of installation in your area of your chosen type of render.

Estimate how much does rendering cost per square metre in the UK:
Small mid-terrace house = 40-50m2
Large mid-terrace house = 70-170m2
3 bed semi-detached = 110-160m2
3 bed detached = 110-160m2
4-5 bed detached = 180m2+

While the cost is comparably not expensive, the work needs to carried out by approved renderers. If you live in a traditionally built property with solid walls without a cavity, you’ll need to get a price from a specialist who understands the importance of breathability.

Monocouche is modern through-coloured render which provides a decorative, weather-proof finish for external walls. Unlike render covered with paint, it does not show scratches and therefore stays looking newer for longer. One finishing layer is installed on top of a base layer, you don’t need to paint the surface.

South: £45-60 per square metre
Midlands: £35-50 per square metre
North: £35-45 per square metre

Silicone render – especially fibre reinforced silicone thin coat. This type is more expensive being more flexible, meaning the render will move with the building and not crack, they are great alternative to silicone K render. Also, silicone stays cleaner for longer so it will keep looking new. Like the Moncouche, this is also a “through colour” so no painting is needed. Rendering explained

What is the difference between monocouche and silicone renders?
Monocouche is dry powdered render which has a coloured pigment added to the mixture as well as other aggregates. Monocouche render provides reasonable breathability and generally a very popular rendering system. The natural microporosity allows an excellent flow of the thermal pressure generated by the heating of the facade. The microporosity of render is an advantage, but also a drawback due to the relatively high water absorption which could be dramatically reduced with the help of silane – siloxane based render sealer. Silicone renders – modern generation of facade renders with binder being based on silicone resins and polymer dispersion. This type of finishing coat, gives properties such as flexibility, hydrophobicity and vapour permeability. Silicone render is one of the most modern generation of facade renders. Its formula guarantees high vapour permeability or breathability as well as water resistant protection to withstand aggressive environmental agents, in harsh weather conditions. This type of render has an excellent resistance to UV rays and ageing together with a very low dirt absorption. The excellent workability combined with good surface adhesion, excellent filling makes it an ideal decorative render solution. Manufactured in the form of a ready-to-use colour paste that can be used straight after mixing.
Monocouche
Monocuche is a one-coat, weather resistant, breathable, through coloured mineral decorating render for external use, suitable for most types of traditional masonry brick, blockwork or concrete. The product allows to protect, smooth and decorate, surfaces maintaining good breathability of walls. This product is designed for mechanical projection by diesel and electric machines or hand application. It is typically available in a wide range of different colours and can be finished in a range of textures such as scraped, light sprayed, sponged or float finish.
Silicone Render
Fibre-reinforced decorative render with paste consistency for exterior use. Its special formula guarantees maximum wall breathability and water resistant protection to withstand aggressive environmental agents, in all weather conditions. The product has excellent resistance to UV rays and ageing together with a very low dirt absorption. The excellent workability combined with good surface adhesion, excellent filling and smoothing powers; make it an ideal decorative render coating for new house rendering, old render renovation, flexible render over insulation systems, etc. It is typically available in three different sizes: 1.0 mm, 1.2 mm and 1.5 mm and very wide range of colours.

Now complete and is excellent….

Thank you for helping with rendering solution for my house. The rendering on Garth House is now complete and is excellent. I wonder if you could do likewise for my neighbour’s property? The left hand side of the house is less rough than the right hand side extension. If possible they would not want to hack off the existing finish. I look forward to receiving your ideas.
